The new docuseries Flordelis: A Family Crime is slated to debut on HBO Max in Brazil in December and throughout the rest of the world in 2023.

The series centers on the murder of Flordelis dos Santos de Souza’s husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo, in 2019. This month, the former congresswoman, who has adopted more than 50 vulnerable children in total over the years, was found guilty of having organized the crime with the help of three of her kids.

After the murder, an HBO film crew followed Flordelis for more than a year and gained access to the main milestones of the case, including her impeachment and arrest. The series includes interviews with police investigators, key witnesses and the defense and prosecution’s legal teams. It poses questions about greed, fame, religion, the role of media in the justice system and the meaning of family in today’s society.

Flordelis: A Family Crime was directed by Suemay Oram and co-directed by Maurício Monteiro Filho. It was produced by Wall to Wall in association with Petterle Films and Viva Productions.
