Entertainment One (eOne) has acquired the international distribution rights, excluding the U.K., Germany and Italy, for the four-part docu-drama Royal Mob.

Through the eyes of Queen Victoria’s granddaughters, the Hesse sisters, who each married into Europe’s royal courts, the series tells the story of the rise and fall of the family who ruled across 19th-century Europe.

Royal Mob was produced by Nutopia (African Queens: Njinga, The Last Czars) and originally aired on Sky History in the U.K.

“We’re delighted to bolster our expansive slate of premium non-scripted programming with the addition of Royal Mob,” said Kate Cundall, VP of acquisitions at eOne. “Nutopia are brilliant visionaries with a proven track record of delivering original, high-end factual content that is dynamic, timely and entertaining.”

“Nutopia are very excited to be partnering, once again, with Entertainment One in the global distribution of Royal Mob,” added Carl Griffin, managing director of Nutopia. “This hugely enjoyable and innovative drama doc has been a hit with viewers in the U.K., and we can’t wait to share this with global audiences.”
