LOS ANGELES: Discovery Channel has added to the Deadliest Catch franchise with the tentatively titled Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove, set to premiere next fall.

A spin-off of Deadliest Catch, the series goes aboard vessels that navigate the “Graveyard of the Pacific,” a strip of ocean that stretches from Oregon to British Columbia, as Dungeness crab fishermen risk their lives for their jobs. The show also explores what life is like for the families of these fishermen, who brave what is considered the deadliest commercial fishery in the world, where thousands of vessels and lives have been lost.

"Deadliest Catch is one of the most iconic and highly regarded series on television," said Rich Ross, the group president of Discovery Channel. "This is an opportunity to extend the franchise with new story lines and characters."

"Our successful partnership with Rich Ross and Discovery has given us the opportunity to tell yet another amazing story of exciting and dangerous adventures at sea," added Philip D. Segal, the president and CEO of Original Productions.

Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove is produced for Discovery Channel by Deadliest Catch creator Original Productions, with Segal, Sarah Whalen and John Gray as executive producers and Johnny Beechler as showrunner. Joseph Boyle serves as executive producer for Discovery Channel.
