The World’s Greatest Archaeological Discoveries (w.t.), fronted by historian and TV presenter Dan Snow, is set to launch on Channel 5.

In the three-part series, Snow will explore such archaeological discoveries as Egypt’s Valley of the Kings and the Roman town of Pompeii. In each episode, he will delve into the play-by-play of each discovery, unpacking these finds where they happened and revealing their historical significance.

The World’s Greatest Archaeological Discoveries will also explore the lives of the archaeologists who made the discoveries and showcase these feats.

The series will be Channel 5’s first co-production with History Hit, an SVOD and content platform founded by historian Snow that was acquired by Little Dot Studios.

Snow said: “Nothing ignites a passion for history like a huge archaeological find. So often the news of a new shipwreck, tomb or burial has grabbed the attention of millions of us. So now I’m really excited to be uncovering the story behind some of the world’s greatest discoveries.”

Lucy Willis, commissioning editor and VP of non-scripted U.K. originals for Channel 5 and P+, said: “Dan is one of the best storytellers out there, and I’m a huge fan. I’m delighted to be joining forces for C5’s first collaboration with History Hit and with such an exciting box set anthology series of incredible discoveries.”
