Channel 5 Orders New Titanic Documentary

Channel 5 has commissioned the feature documentary 10 Mistakes that Sank the Titanic from Blink Films, a Tin Roof Media company.

Charting the key oversights that caused the most famous naval disaster in history, 10 Mistakes that Sank the Titanic follows the ship’s journey from construction to catastrophe, revealing that what sealed its fate was a fatal combination of errors. The documentary shows that a procedure for fixing rivets into the ship’s bows, the delay in construction that pushed the maiden voyage into the iceberg season and the lookouts being without binoculars were among the factors that led to the Titanic’s sinking.

10 Mistakes That Sank the Titanic is produced and directed by Mike Ibeji, with Dan Chambers and Alison Turner serving as executive producers. It was commissioned by Lucy Willis for Channel 5. The film is being distributed internationally by Drive.

Chambers, co-founder and creative director at Blink Films, said: “The story of the supposedly ‘unsinkable’, cutting-edge ocean liner designed specifically to survive a collision with an iceberg remains one of the most enduring tales of our time. Audiences may know some of the details about the catastrophe, but this program reveals all the key errors, and how they combined, to cause one of the greatest ever maritime disasters.”
