LONDON: Channel 5 has recommissioned Brinkworth Films to produce an extended fourth season of the documentary series Can’t Pay? We’ll Take It Away as the production company launches an international division.

Production has begun on the latest season of Can’t Pay? We’ll Take It Away, which will have a 20-episode run. The show offers viewers access to High Court enforcement bailiffs and repossession teams in Britain and provides insight into what it’s like to be a debtor, creditor and debt collector. Additionally, as Brinkworth Films celebrates its one-year anniversary, the company has launched an international division to handle sales and rights. Along with the recommission of Can’t Pay? We’ll Take It Away, Brinkworth has received interest in its documentary Secrets of the Mona Lisa, which reveals new research and answers questions about the famous painting. The hour-long program aired on BBC Two this week.

“Our one-year anniversary has certainly coincided with a milestone week for the business,” said Malcolm Brinkworth, the managing director of Brinkworth Films. “We have always been proud of Can’t Pay? We’ll Take It Away and the breadth of stories it tells, so [we] are delighted that Channel 5 is extending its commitment with a recommission and extended run.”

He continued: “When I started the company a year ago I wanted to produce distinctive TV that people talked about. Secrets of the Mona Lisa has been a dream project in that respect and has moved being talked about to a whole new level. The mind-blowing media exposure and critical response have marked the end to a wonderful first year for our business and with an international arm established and exciting projects in the pipeline, we are hopeful for an equally fascinating and successful 2016.”

Margaret Yoshida, a consultant formerly of National Geographic Television International, will now work alongside Brinkworth at Brinkworth Films International.
