Beyond Rights and unscripted indie Crackit Productions have extended their partnership, with five new titles being offered up to the international market at MIPCOM.

Among the newly acquired titles, Key to a Fortune is a wish-fulfillment show hosted by Jean Johansson that surprises unsuspecting members of the public with huge, life-changing windfalls. Originally produced for Channel 4, the series is also available as a format.

Additionally, five new hours from Crackit’s long-standing “Go Horribly Wrong” franchise are part of the pact. Produced for Channel 5, the agreement comprises When Luxury Holidays Go Horribly Wrong, When Luxury Cruises Go Horribly Wrong, When Day Trips Go Horribly Wrong and When Hotel Holidays Go Horribly Wrong. These can be packaged together as a series or sold as four standalone titles.

Nicola Davey, Beyond Rights’ senior VP of acquisitions, said: “Crackit is one of the most dynamic indies producing in the U.K. today, so we are delighted that Elaine and the team have chosen us to represent their new. Key to a Fortune is an exciting new series, hitting a double sweet spot by combining property with family reunions, so we have high hopes when we take both the series and format to MIPCOM. Meanwhile, with international travel almost back to normal following the pandemic, there is an increase in demand for all types of travel shows. These five ‘Go Horribly Wrong’ travel hours provide an entertaining and sometimes eye-popping counterpoint to the wealth of glossy destination-led shows in the market and, as such, should be much in demand.”

Elaine Hackett, CEO of Crackit Productions, added: “Key to a Fortune will draw viewers in with its mix of life-changing events, from unexpected windfalls and emotional journeys, as families get to hear about inheriting hundreds of thousands of pounds and meet relatives that they never knew they had. I’m sure it will prove to be a huge hit at MIPCOM, along with our five immensely entertaining ‘Horribly Wrong’ travel episodes.”
