BBC Studios has tapped Sandy Robertson as the first head of production for its factual entertainment and events division in Glasgow.

When she takes up the role on July 24, Robertson will lead production management teams across a range of output for the unit and play an integral role in helping shape and grow the Glasgow base. She joins from Raise the Roof Productions, where she earned credits on Holiday Homes in the Sun and Kirstie & Phil’s Love it or List It, among others.

The factual-entertainment unit in Glasgow produces some of BBC Studios’ biggest brands and titles, including Dragons’ Den, Amazing Hotels, Points of View and Lost Dogs Live. The unit is also responsible for some of Britain’s most-watched programming such as The One Show, Countryfile, DIY SOS, Morning Live, Antiques Roadshow, Gardeners’ World and Bargain Hunt, in addition to Royal Ceremonial Event coverage.

“I am thrilled to have Sandy join our rapidly expanding Glasgow base,” said Adeline Ramage Rooney, creative director at BBC Studios for factual entertainment and events in Glasgow. “She brings a powerful combination of experience, strategic thinking and bold ambition, so I’m hugely excited at the thought of what we can build together.”

Katie Brewer-Frankl, director of production for factual entertainment and events, added, “As we move into an ambitious period of growth for factual entertainment in our Glasgow base, it’s absolutely crucial we have a production management leader to match. Sandy is an exceptional and well-respect head of production, and we couldn’t be more thrilled she is joining us later this summer.”

“I am extremely proud to have been part of Raise the Roof’s incredible trajectory for more than a decade, but the opportunity to become part of the creativity and growth within the BBC Studios factual entertainment team in Glasgow at this stage of their journey was an offer I couldn’t turn down,” Robertson said. “I’m excited about what’s happening at BBC Studios, and I can’t wait to get started.”
