On the first day of MIPDoc, April 6, BBC Studios’ Dr. Michael Gunton will sit down with World Screen’s Anna Carugati in the Grand Theatre at the JW Marriott to discuss the art and craft of factual filmmaking in the special Talent Behind the Scenes session, which will be followed by the presentation of this year’s World Screen Factual Trendsetter Award.

Gunton, creative director of the Natural History Unit and factual at BBC Studios, has a long list of credits that includes Planet Earth II and Dynasties. During the session, which takes place at 10:15 a.m., he will discuss with Carugati the importance of researching topics; gaining access to people, locations and budgets; and the passion he brings to the genre.

Following the lively discussion, Gunton will be presented with a World Screen Factual Trendsetter Award for his contribution to the international television industry.
