BBC Scotland has commissioned the docusoap series The Show People: Licenced To Thrill (w.t.) from Tern TV.

The Show People: Licenced To Thrill will follow the daily lives of Scotland’s Show People throughout their busy summer season and go into the homes and lives of this private and close-knit community. The six-parter, which is due to air in 2025, is directed by Rod Tamime.

David Marshall, executive producer for Tern TV, said, “We are delighted to work with BBC Scotland to shine a light on the fascinating and colorful world of the Show People community. It is testament to the team and their ability of winning the trust that allows audiences a unique glimpse into lives far removed from their own.”

Tony Nellany, commissioner for BBC Scotland, added, “Many people will be familiar with ‘the shows’ and fairground rides that travel around Scotland throughout the year. Our aim with this series is to provide an insight into the lives of the families who bring the fun and excitement of the fair as they hit the road with their cavalcade of rides heading from town to town. It is a close-knit community, and this will be a window into their lives at home and on the road.”
