Award-winning documentary film executive and A&E IndieFlims founder Molly Thompson has joined Apple as the company’s head of documentaries.

Thompson brings with her to the position nearly three decades of experience developing and producing award-winning documentaries. She previously served as head of documentary films for A+E Networks and, as an executive producer at A&E IndieFilms, was behind the recent The Clinton Affair, Charles Ferguson’s Watergate docuseries and Academy Award-nominated Murderball and Jesus Camp, among a raft of others.

Aside from documentaries, Thompson produced two narrative features for Lifetime Films: Lila & Eve, starring Viola Davis and Jennifer Lopez, and Paris Can Wait, starring Diane Lane and Alec Baldwin. She also served as executive producer on all feature films produced under the History Films banner, including Werner Herzog’s Meeting Gorbachev and Cave of Forgotten Dreams.
