NEW YORK: Two all-new documentaries from the Animal Planet Presents banner are joining the channel’s lineup in December.

Killer Whales: The Mega Hunt will premiere on December 4 at 7 p.m. The documentary pulls back the curtain as killer whales hunt 5,000 dolphins off the coast of South Africa. A team of researchers seek to understand the motivation behind this hunt. The title is produced for Animal Planet by Table Mountain Films, with Joe Kennedy and Katharina Pechel serving as executive producers.

I Bought a Rainforest, meanwhile, will make its premiere on December 6 at 9 p.m. It follows professional wildlife cameraman Charlie Hamilton Jones, who impulsively buys 100 acres of the Amazon rainforest sight unseen to preserve the ecosystem. To protect the animals, Jones must confront illegal loggers, miners and cattle ranchers whose livelihood depends on dismantling the rainforest. I Bought a Rainforest is produced for Animal Planet by Hat Trick International. Will Anderson, Andrew Palmer and Matt Cole executive produce for Hat Trick International, while Erin Wanner is on board to executive produce for Animal Planet.
