AMPLE Entertainment has promoted filmmaker Sam Lang to the position of creative director and tapped Emmy winner Matt Blaine for the role of executive producer.

In his expanded role, Lang will report directly to AMPLE Co-presidents Ari Mark and Phil Lott, working to maintain an elevated look and feel across all AMPLE projects. Previously, Lang served as co-executive producer for several AMPLE series, including Cooper’s Treasure (Discovery) and Murder in the Heartland (ID). Among his long list of other credits are Hunted, Everest Rescue, In Our Wildest Dreams, My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding and So You Think You Can Dance.

Mark and Lott said: “Sam is an invaluable asset to our company and a perfect example of a talent that can infuse a filmmaking sensibility into everything he touches. For AMPLE, that attention to detail and handcrafted storytelling is everything. We’re so lucky to have him part of the team.”

Blaine, meanwhile, will join the current programming team to oversee a production slate of close to 70 hours of programming that includes second seasons of 9 Months with Courteney Cox (Facebook) and The Lost Gold of World War II (History), as well as a third season of Murder in the Heartland (ID), among several unannounced commissions and feature documentaries currently in production.

Prior to joining AMPLE, Blaine served as executive producer and showrunner for the critically acclaimed A&E series Raising Tourette’s. He also executive produced True Life (MTV) and Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo), which both garnered him Emmys.

The company also elevated Viviana Soto to VP of finance and Sean Nugent to executive-in-charge. In her expanded role, Soto will oversee payroll and as well as corporate and production finances. Prior to joining AMPLE, she worked for Shed Media, Articulus and across three seasons of Don’t Forget the Lyrics with Argyle Productions. Previously, she served as senior production accountant for AMPLE.

Nugent will build and manage production teams and AMPLE’s overall production needs. Among his many credits are global formats such as Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition, Fear Factor, Wipeout and Undercover Boss, as well as live events like the Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show and the NBA Awards Show. Previously, he served as line producer at AMPLE.

Mark and Lott added: “Matt is a highly respected and talented showrunner who has the rare combination of management skills and hands-on story chops. As we continue to grow, we’re committed to excellence, and that means nurturing and hiring the very best in film and television. Sam, Matt, Viviana, and Sean fit that paradigm.”
