AMC Networks’ 49ers Series Gets February Premiere

Rise of the 49ers, a four-part series exploring the run of the San Francisco 49ers during the ’80s and ’90s, is slated to debut on February 1 on AMC and AMC+.

From 1981 to 1995, the 49ers won five Super Bowls. The series features rare and never-before-seen footage from NFL Films, including video of team speeches and behind-the-scenes photos of head coach Bill Walsh, as well as interviews with Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Steve Young and Eddie DeCartolo Jr., among others. Each episode also features on-camera contributions from Tom Brady, a native of San Mateo, California, and lifelong 49ers fan.

The first two episodes of the series will bow on February 1, with the remaining two becoming available on February 2.

Rise of the 49ers is co-produced by AMC Studios and Skydance Sports, with producing partners NFL Films and Religion of Sports. It is directed by Ryan Kelly (The Great Brady Heist) and Nick Mascolo (30 for 30: The Tuck Rule) of NFL Films.

Executive producers include Jesse Sisgold, Jason T. Reed and Jon Weinbach from Skydance Sports; Ross Ketover, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers and Jessica Boddy from NFL Films; and Brady, Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran and Victor Buhler from Religion of Sports.
