5 Debuts Fast-Turnaround Doc on Prince Andrew & Epstein

Prince Andrew & The Epstein Email Scandal, a fast-turnaround documentary from Mentorn Media delving into reports published October 12 showing that Prince Andrew lied about cutting ties with Jeffrey Epstein in 2010, has bowed on 5.

“5 has form in getting topical documentaries on air at breakneck speed, but this is a record even for us,” said Federico Ruiz, commissioning editor at 5. “By collaborating with a top investigative journalist and two leading Sunday papers, we were able to give 5 viewers what they love most: a mix of royals, scandal and shocking, breaking news.”

The documentary follows after a report dropped in the Mail and the Sun on Sunday, October 12, revealing that Prince Andrew sent an email to Epstein the day after a damaging picture of him with Epstein’s alleged 17-year-old sex-trafficking victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre was published. In the email, Prince Andrew said to Epstein, “It would seem that we are in this together.”

In the documentary, journalist Daphne Barak delves into the report.

“It was unimaginable to me that we could unearth this email, after Prince Andrew had promised the nation and the world that he had cut any ties to Jeffrey Epstein after his 2010 visit to New York,” Barak said. “This explosive email blows his statements out of the water.”

“This world documentary exclusive comes just 24 hours after the sensational story of Prince Andrew’s email to Jeffrey Epstein broke in the Sun on Sunday and the Mail on Sunday,” commented Tayte Simpson, executive producer at Mentorn Media. “We are delighted to be working with the journalists behind this explosive scoop and be able to expose new exclusive revelations about the Duke and Duchess of York not yet revealed in the press.”
