The brand-new documentary The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause is set to premiere on PBS on October 17, in advance of World Menopause Day.

The film, produced by Women in the Room Productions and Take Flight Productions, aims to empower and educate the 1.1 billion women worldwide who will be in menopause by 2025. The title is created by Jacoba Atlas and executive producers Tamsen Fadal, Denise Pines and Joanne LaMarca Mathisen, with funding support provided by the Metta Fund and private donors.

“Every single woman will go through menopause,” commented Pines and Fadal. “The neglect, ridicule or shaming of debilitating symptoms is unacceptable and impacts more than just an individual woman’s well-being.”

Pines added, “Today, 55 million women in the United States are menopausal; yet despite its universality, menopause remains shrouded in silence and misinformation, contributing to the broader crisis in women’s health.”
