Oxford Scientific Films Appoints BBC Vet to Team

Oxford Scientific Films (OSF) has brought Lucinda Axelsson on board as executive producer.

Axelsson’s recent credits include Snow Bears for BBC One and the wildlife drama series Serengeti. She was a producer at the BBC’s Natural History Unit before moving into the specialist factual department, where she held the position of BBC commissioning editor for three and a half years. In this role, she oversaw a large factual slate that included the BAFTA-nominated Attenborough’s Life that Glows, Tribes, Predators and Me and Elephant Family and Me, which featured Gordon Buchanan with the NHU. She was also responsible for The World’s Most Amazing Hotels and James May: The Re-assembler, as well as science titles including Cosmonauts for BBC Four.

Axelsson first began working with OSF in 2004 as a freelance series producer on the series Meerkat Manor for Discovery.

Clare Birks, chief executive of OSF, said: “I have long admired Lucinda as a hugely talented producer. There are few executives in the industry with her breadth of experience, particularly in natural history, a genre where we are experiencing an unprecedented demand both in the U.K. and internationally.”

I’m delighted we’ve been able to make that happen at last and extremely excited about the creative possibilities our new collaboration opens up.”
