BBC, RTÉ Recommission Rare TV Titles

The BBC and RTÉ have recommissioned five titles from Rare TV’s Belfast and Dublin production hubs.

“Building a stable of returning series for multiple broadcasters is at the heart of Rare TV’s strategy,” said Daniela Neumann, CEO of Rare TV. “We are thrilled to have so many shows returning for new seasons for the BBC and RTÉ, in addition to the recent new commissions and paid development won by the teams in Belfast, Dublin and London.”

The BBC ordered more of the long-running shows Expert Witness and Digging for Britain, commissioning fifth and 13th seasons, respectively.

Expert Witness reveals how science helped solve some of the U.K.’s toughest criminal investigations. Digging for Britain follows professor Alice Roberts and a team of experts as they dig deeper to understand the stories behind their finds.

RTÉ, meanwhile, ordered a tenth season of Crimecall, a fifth season of The Case I Can’t Forget and a second season of Futureville Ireland.

Crimecall, made in conjunction with the Irish police service, An Garda Síochána, sees presenter Carla O’Brien appeal for the public’s help to solve major ongoing investigations in the Republic of Ireland. In The Case I Can’t Forget, serving and retired police detectives describe the emotions, twists and turns of one major police investigation that shaped their careers. Futureville Ireland, meanwhile, sees presenters Carla O’Brien and Dr. Lollie Mancey design a future city for Ireland and explore the science today that could shape life for residents there in 2050.
