Spirit Studios has received its first commission for 5, with Drunk & Disorderly: At 30,000 Feet set to air on the U.K. channel later this year.
Narrated by Richard Arnold, the documentary exposes the growing crisis of mid-air disruptions, ranging from aggressive confrontations to life-threatening behavior, and examines the ways in which the aviation industry itself may be contributing to the problem.
The 60-minute film features firsthand accounts from passengers and crew members, expert insights from travel specialists Simon Calder and Jeremy Spake and exclusive contributions from aviation insiders.
Drunk & Disorderly is executive produced by Matt Campion and produced and directed by Andrew Robertson.
“We’re delighted to be working with 5 for the first time on such a relevant and eye-opening project,” said Campion, creative director at Spirit Studios. “While mid-air meltdowns have become viral sensations on social media, this documentary goes beyond the headlines to uncover the deeper causes—some of which may be uncomfortably close to home for the aviation industry. We hope it will make viewers think twice before heading to the duty-free bar before a flight.”
Federico Ruiz, commissioning editor at 5 and Paramount+, added, “Taking the family abroad and boarding one of these flights is the stuff of nightmares. This shocking documentary will make you want to drive to your holiday destination or cancel it altogether.”
