NBCUniversal Films Headed to East Africa

NAIROBI: NBCUniversal International Television Distribution has licensed a selection of library feature films, including the Jurassic Park trilogy, for pay-TV rights in the East Africa region to Wananchi Group’s Zuku.

Highlights of the deal include The Incredible Hulk, The Mummy 3, Mamma Mia!, Hellboy 2, The Changeling and The Tale of Despereaux. Other titles include Spike Lee’s Mo’ Better Blues and Jungle Fever, 21 Grams, 8 Mile, Dragonheart, Shakespeare in Love and Gladiator.

Hannelie Bekker, the managing director of Wananchi Programming, said: "The deal with NBCUniversal marks yet another exciting step for Zuku, bringing a wealth of movie content to our channel bouquets. This continued investment in range and choice is part of Zuku’s ongoing commitment to providing an affordable variety of content to East Africans.
