SÃO PAULO: Starting next month, satellite TV operator ZAP is set to become the exclusive home of programming from Brazil’s Globo in Angola and Mozambique.

Through this deal, Globo will air in those countries through two signals: an HD feed and the new telenovela channel Globo ON. ZAP is slated to launch those signals on July 1.

Ricardo Scalamandré, Globo’s head of international business, remarked: “We’ve been in Angola since the 1980s, when we started broadcasting the first telenovelas in the country; our content has always been welcomed both here and in Mozambique. The move to ZAP, a company that understands and invests in the development of these countries, is our way to honor viewers. We want to be closer to our audience.”

Added Nuno Aguiar, ZAP’s CEO: “2015 marks our fifth anniversary of operations and the partnership with Globo is the best gift we could offer to our customers.”
