ZDF Studios and PROVOBIS have begun releasing selected productions from ZDF Fairytale Gems (ZDF-Märchenperlen) as German-language audio plays.

The narrators of the audio plays are actors from the original productions, and every play features original audio from their respective films. The first that has been released is Snow White and the Magic of the Dwarves (Schneewittchen und der Zauber der Zwerge), narrated by Armin Rohde.

The other fairytale classics that will be released are Rübezahl’s Treasure (Rübezahls Schatz), narrated by Sabin Tambrea; Dwarf Nose (Zwerg Nase), narrated by Maria Simon; The Witch Princess (Die Hexenprinzessin), narrated by Jürgen Vogel; and The Tale of the Frog and the Golden Ball (Das Märchen vom Frosch und der goldenen Kugel), narrated by Götz Otto.

The audio plays will be available for streaming via all digital audio platforms.

“We are delighted that PROVOBIS has not only entrusted us with the worldwide distribution of the TV productions, but that we can now also realize this highly interesting project together,” said Peter Lang, VP Junior at ZDF Studios. “The involvement of a prominent narrator increases the appeal of these audio plays.”

Jens C. Susa, managing director of PROVOBIS, added, “It was the viewers who asked us several times to please produce audio plays from the ZDF Fairytale Gems. Michael Stumpf and Jens Ripke-Desaules from ZDF and Peter Lang from ZDF Studios were immediately enthusiastic about our concept. I am delighted that all the actors immediately agreed to take part in the audio plays and that the first one is now being released.”
