Toy of the Year Awards Recognize Doc McStuffins

NEW YORK: At the 16th Annual Toy of the Year Awards (TOTY), Doc McStuffins Pet Vet Checkup Center scored two wins, including best toy of the year.

Just Play’s Doc McStuffins Pet Vet Checkup Center also won preschool toy of the year. Another toy tapping into the kids’ culinary market, KidKraft’s Uptown Espresso Kitchen, won the people’s choice award, garnering the most online votes from consumers.

“From toys that can inspire kids’ career choices to ones that boost their creativity and confidence, the 2016 TOTY winners have provided children with countless hours of fun, challenges and learning—benefits that last a lifetime,” said Steve Pasierb, the president and CEO of the U.S. Toy Industry Association. “We congratulate Just Play, KidKraft and the winners across all 12 categories for their innovation and success in the marketplace—and for enhancing children’s experiences through play!”

Property of the year went to Star Wars (Disney/Lucasfilm Licensing). The winner for activity toy of the year was Bunchems by Spin Master. For boys’ toys, the award went to LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Millenium Falcon by The LEGO Group. In the girls’ category, Shopkins Scoops Ice Cream Truck by Moose Toys took home the win.

The e-connected toy of the year was Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition by Disney. Educational toy of the year went to VEX Robotics Robotic Arm by HEXBUG. Game of the year was awarded to Hasbro’s Pie Face Game.

For infants and toddlers, the toy award was presented to Bright Beats Dance & Move BeatBo by Fisher-Price. The winner for innovative toy was Meccanoid G15 by Spin Master. Razor GFD Fury by Razor USA won for outdoor toy, while Tumble Trax Magnetic Marble Run by Learning Resources won for specialty toy.
