Canada-based Portfolio Entertainment has signed a streaming deal with Netflix to send the animated series The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! and Freaktown to territories across the globe.

Freaktown follows best friends Ben Bones, a skeleton with soul, and Lenny, a laidback mutant mantis, on adventures in their oddity-filled hometown. Produced by Portfolio Entertainment for Teletoon in Canada and supported by CMF and the Shaw Rocket Fund, the slapstick animated comedy series for the 8-to-12-year-old set will stream to Netflix audiences in Spain and Portugal.

The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! features the popular Dr. Seuss feline as he takes protégés Nick and Sally on journeys through the natural world alongside Thing One, Thing Two and his pet fish. The preschool series is produced by Portfolio Entertainment in association with PBS Kids and with the support of CMF and the Shaw Rocket Fund. Netflix will stream season one of the program in 135 countries, including the U.K., Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal, the Nordics, Latin America and the MENA region.

“The enduring quality and audience demand for these properties are evident with today’s announcement,” said Donnie MacIntyre, Portfolio’s VP of sales and business development. “We couldn’t be happier to be partnering with Netflix to bring these adventures to kids of all ages around the world.”
