Serious Kids has signed a worldwide distribution deal with U.K. indie Eagle Vs Bat for the live-action and stop-frame animation series The Sound Collector.

The show features stories about sound as heard through the ears of a little being called the Sound Collector, who spends his days discovering and using new sounds that he finds on his adventures, such as the popping of a sea anemone and the scuttling of a beetle.

Co-produced by Eagle Vs Bat and Enanimation, The Sound Collector was created by Tom and Erica Angell and written by Dave Ingham (Lucas the Spider, Clangers, Shaun the Sheep). The animation and models are by Mackinnon & Saunders (The House, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Corpse Bride). It is slated to debut on ITV and Rai in 2023.

“We are incredibly excited to start production on The Sound Collector, our first series to greenlight,” said the Angells. “We chose Serious Kids as our distribution partner because of their great track record, their enthusiasm and commitment to our show and their understanding of the ever-changing landscape of broadcast platforms.”

Genevieve Dexter, CEO of Serious Kids, said, “The Sound Collector is a unique series brimming with superb talent, visuals and storytelling at every level. The joint commissioning broadcasters ITV and Rai will give the series two major launch platforms from which we hope to expand into all major territories and beyond. We will be sharing sneak previews at MIFA and launching the series at MIPCOM ’22.”
