LONDON: The alien-led animated series Q Pootle 5 and creator Nick Butterworth are being featured in this year’s World Space Week UK campaign, meant to encourage kids to have an interest in space.

As part of the initiative, World Space Week UK will launch a national school competition, with the winning school getting the chance to meet Q Pootle 5 and Butterworth. Characters from the show will also be featured on a themed webpage hosting a variety of content, including a downloadable activity sheet. Visitors will also be able to watch some of Butterworth’s favorite episodes.

World Space Week 2016 is taking place from October 4 to 10. The annual event is organized by the World Space Week Association.

Q Pootle 5 grew out of my life-long interest in everything to do with space,” stated Butterworth. “World Space Week celebrates the importance and excitement of space and space exploration, which makes them the perfect partner and we are delighted to be teaming up with them in 2016.”

Victoria Southgate, national coordination manager for World Space Week UK, added: “Q Pootle 5 is a much-loved brand with creativity, fun and adventure at its core. By partnering with them for World Space Week 2016 we hope to engage with the next generation and encourage them to have a greater interest in space.”
