Nickelodeon has launched its new Intergalactic Shorts Program that is designed to discover and develop the next generation of animation talent.

The program, to be overseen by Ramsey Naito, Nickelodeon’s executive VP of animation production and development, will identify original comedy-driven content and nurture the voices and storytellers behind it. The target demo for the animated content submitted to the Intergalactic Shorts Program is kids ages 6 to 11, with a secondary focus on content for adults ages 18 to 49. The completed shorts will have the chance to air on different platforms and be developed for potential long-form series.

Conrad Vernon (Sausage Party) will serve as the program’s executive producer, while Derek Evanick (Harvey Beaks) and Diana Lafyatis (Adventure Time) will be part of the program’s creative braintrust. Nina Hahn, senior VP of international production and development at Nickelodeon, will welcome international pitches and ideas.

Naito said: “Our shorts program is intergalactic because we want to create a universe of new stars ready to make the next big animated hits of the future. Our doors are open to the best ideas out there and around the world, and we can’t wait to get started building this new home for visionary talent.”
