Nickelodeon has acquired the New Zealand stop-motion series Kiri and Lou from CAKE, with a premiere set for June 13 on Nick Jr.

Handcrafted in paper and clay and created using traditional stop-motion animation from Antony Elworth (Coraline, Corpse Bride, Isle of Dogs), the prehistoric characters explore the world of feelings through laughter, song and adventure.

Kiri and Lou is written and directed by feature-film director Harry Sinclair (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring). The series features the voices of Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Olivia Tennet (Lord of the Rings). It is co-produced by Heather Walker of Yowza Animation and produced by Fiona Copland for Stretchy.

Following the series premiere on the Nick Jr. channel, the Nick Jr. website and app will feature short-form content and full-length episodes. Season three is set to debut later this year.
