Singer-songwriter Nick Cope, formerly of the band The Candyskins, is leading a new music show on CBeebies, Nick Cope’s Popcast.

Each episode sees the musician searching for ideas for a new song from the setting of his quirky caravan, with his adorable companion Norman the Whippet for company. The 15×5-minute show sees Cope taking inspiration from his surroundings and from The Popcasters, a team of young children who give him ideas and topics to sing about.

BBC Children’s head of content, Cheryl Taylor, said: “We’re delighted to have Nick join the CBeebies team to provide us with his quirky and truly original songs for families to enjoy together. Along with stunning visuals and fun-filled animation, this has all the hallmarks of a preschool hit!”

Nick Cope’s Popcast will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer from April 24 and will be air on the CBeebies channel every Saturday morning at 9:20 a.m. from April 25.
