CBeebies to Debut Preschool Craft Show Monster Makes

The new dual live-action and animation preschool series Monster Makes, from Terrific Television, is slated to premiere on March 16 on CBeebies.

Monster Makes is everything we love in a CBeebies series—it’s warm, it’s inventive and it empowers children to see creativity in the world around them,” said Kate Morton, senior head of commissioning for CBeebies at BBC Children’s and Education. “Murphi is such a joyful character, brought to life through an exciting fusion of puppetry and animation, and his boundless imagination celebrates the idea that brilliant things can be made from the simplest materials. We’re incredibly proud to champion a show that not only sparks play and curiosity but does so with sustainability at its heart.”

In the series, the furry monster Murphi encourages young viewers to turn everyday recyclable materials into imaginative creations. Murphi comes to life through a blend of puppetry and CGI, which allows him to exist physically in his art studio while expanding into animated sequences when his imagination takes over.

Murphi is joined by CBeebies presenter Rebecca Keatley, who becomes his creative ally.

Monster Makes is produced by Terrific Television, with animation from A Productions. It was produced at Maidstone Studios and received a 3-star Albert certification for season one, with recycled and reclaimed materials prioritized for props and builds and modular sets enabling reuse across episodes and repair and adaptation favored over replacement.
