New Storybook App for Toot the Tiny Tugboat

CARDIFF: Thud Media and Lupus Films have partnered to launch the third in a series of kids’ apps based on the Channel 5 and Cartoonito preschool show Toot the Tiny Tugboat.

The storybook app Toot to the Rescue lets young readers read along with a narrator as the action unfolds. It also features games, events and animated elements, along with a new and original story line written by the series’ head writer, Ian Carney. The app, which was developed for little ones aged 3 to 6, also has a dual-language feature that allows the story to be read in English or Welsh.

Ben Cawthorne, Thud Media’s creative producer, said: “It was great to bring animation and interaction to enhance this picture book. Developing the story, laying out the artwork and building in the interactive elements to engage the reader was an enjoyable process. We created a 3D page that can be turned while reading so the book feels responsive and elements can remain active. We hope readers appreciate the quality of the book’s presentation and narration.”
