SYDNEY: The new Cheeky Little Media-produced preschool series Kazoops is debuting on Netflix in the U.S. and Canada next month.

The animated series launched in the U.K. and Australia this summer and will become available on Netflix in the U.S. and Canada on September 2. The show follows the adventures of 6-year-old Monty and his best friend Jimmy Jones, the family pet pig. Using his imagination, Monty challenges common preconceptions such as the need to wear matching socks.

Each episode looks on as Monty and Jimmy Jones enter make-believe worlds, taking imaginary trips to the savannah or going underwater in a submarine. Every adventure is set to a two-minute song and the show features a variety of musical styles. The series integrates CG animation and 2D graphic elements. Kazoops seeks to teach preschoolers critical-thinking skills and the value of creativity and friendship.

Kazoops will be available on Netflix in a bumper 19-minute format consisting of 3×7-minute episodes. Season one will comprise 7 episodes, with a further 19 to follow in the first quarter of 2017.

Executive producer Patrick Egerton commented, “Response from the U.K. and Australia has been extremely positive, and we are delighted to now introduce Kazoops to the U.S. and Canada. We are excited about a show that lets kids know it’s OK to question things and not take the world around them at face value. We want to inspire kids’ imaginations and foster the courage to think and see things differently.”

Egerton adds: “Across the series we cover a lot of ground, in a way that communicates to the kids without preaching, but is also meaningful to adults.”
