Mr Bean Tops 35 Million YouTube Subscribers

Banijay Entertainment’s Mr Bean has surpassed 35 million subscribers on its main YouTube channel as the brand marks its 35th anniversary.

“You have to evolve and keep the changes coming to maintain relevance,” said Rowan Atkinson, co-creator and star of the brand. “I quite like the fact [that] we’ve taken Mr Bean from the theater, where he started in the 1970s, to live action, films, animation and now YouTube! Generations enjoy the character equally—he’s a child trapped in a man’s body, and that’s always fun to watch.”

Mr Bean launched in 1990 on ITV and has been in continual distribution since, broadcasting in over 200 territories. In addition to two feature films in 1997 and 2007, the brand was reimagined in animation form in 2002.

The fourth season of Mr Bean: The Animated Series premiered earlier this year in the U.K. on ITVX and Boomerang and globally on Warner Bros. Discovery’s kids’ channels and streaming services through deals agreed by Banijay Rights.

The animated show is produced by Tiger Aspect Kids & Family and executive produced by Tom Beattie and Atkinson, who also provides the voice.

Banijay Kids & Family represents the worldwide licensing and merchandizing rights for the Mr Bean brand.
