Malaysia’s Monsta has extended the reach of its animated series Mechamato with a launch in China on Youku.

The robotics-filled action show is already available in more than 75 countries, and the Mechamato movie was the highest-grossing animated film produced in Southeast Asia.

“We’re thrilled that Mechamato will soon be airing in China through a new partnership with Youku,” said Monsta’s CEO, Nizam Abd Razak. “This partnership extends far beyond broadcasting, paving the way for thrilling ventures into licensing and merchandising that will elevate our brand to new heights. We look forward to working more closely with partners in China and building strong, long-term relationships in the region.”

Anuar Fariz Fadzil, chief executive officer of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), said, “Mechamato stands as a shining example of Malaysia’s ability to produce world-class digital content with global appeal. Supported by MDEC through our content export grant initiative, its success as a Malaysia Digital (MD) status company underscores the strength and potential of our creative industry. We are proud to champion local talents like Mechamato and remain committed to positioning Malaysia as a regional and global hub for digital content and creative technology.”
