m4e Ties Up with Universal Pictures Germany

HÖHENKIRCHEN/MUNICH: m4e has inked a multiyear output deal with Universal Pictures Germany for its slate of own productions, co-productions and third-party properties.

Universal will distribute m4e’s upcoming TV series for home entertainment and digital. For feature films, Universal Pictures Germany will exploit all audiovisual rights, including TV, theatrical, home entertainment and digital distribution. The agreement encompasses all German-speaking territories, including Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Alto Adige. Universal has also secured a first-look option for Benelux, Italy, France, the U.K. and the U.S.

“We are extremely thrilled to be entering this distribution partnership with Universal,” said Hans Ulrich Stoef, the CEO of m4e. “The market power of Universal Pictures allows us to exploit our content in many new ways. This is another example of the continuing growth of our important relationships in the important German and European marketplace.”

The partnership will also cover the upcoming DVD release and digital distribution of m4e’s Wissper and the third season of Mia and me.

Dirk Lisowsky, Universal’s regional managing director for GAS, added: “m4e is one of the most dynamic and creative producers of kids’ TV shows. Combined with our multichannel expertise and our strength in the marketing of entertainment content, we are looking forward to establishing new TV shows in cooperation with m4e and developing already existing successful series like Mia and me.”
