NEW YORK/PARIS: More than 1,400 executives are expected to take part in MIPJunior this year, which will feature a library of some 1,000 shows available for screening, according to Reed MIDEM’s Laurine Garaude.

Garaude, director of the television division at Reed MIDEM, tells TV Kids that MIPJunior will play host to a record number of buyers, with more than 600 expected for the two-day event at the Martinez.

Two shows will be premiered for market attendees: The Jim Henson Company’s Splash and Bubbles and Studio Hari’s Grizzy and the Lemmings. Keynotes will be delivered by Mattel’s Catherine Balsam-Schwaber (followed by a Q&A with World Screen’s Kristin Brzoznowski) and Corus’s Deirdre Brennan. Other highlights include the second-annual World Screen Kids’ Content Trendsetter Awards, which will be presented at the end of Saturday morning’s What Do Channels and Platforms Want? session moderated by World Screen’s Anna Carugati and featuring Canal+’s Laurence Blaevoet, Disney XD’s Marc Buhaj, Amazon Studios’ Tara Sorensen and CBBC’s Sarah Muller.

Garaude also notes MIPJunior’s focus on emerging technologies like VR and immersive reality, and its sessions showcasing how “devices can help reconnect parents and kids.” There will also be several panels focused on the increasingly important role played by the L&M sector.
