The 2021 KingstOOn Animation and Film Festival is set to be held virtually from April 21 to 25.

Now in its fourth staging, KingstOOn, a hub of Afrocentric content, is extending its reach this year to include other areas of diversity, such as gender and inclusivity. The virtual event will feature an expo, film festival, business exchange forum and the Pitch Boot Camp and Competition for the five Caribbean-based front-runners in the Best Concept category.

In 2019, KingstOOn welcomed 3,000 attendees and featured nearly 2,000 competition submissions from over 100 countries. Per the organizers, this year’s virtual event is on track to surpass these numbers, making use of the digital landscape to reach animators worldwide. This year’s KingstOOn Competitions, which close on February 22, have already racked up over 1,600 submissions with an estimated 25 percent of entries still to come in.
