JAM Media is teaming up with Amazon Studios for the new mixed-media preschool series Jessy & Nessy.

The series (40×11 min.) is set to launch on Amazon Prime Video at the end of 2019, with new episodes set to run into 2020 and 2021. It centers around a curious six-year-old girl named Jessy and her sea monster best friend, Nessy. Jessy wears magical glasses—as she calls them, her “Inspectacles”—that allow her to see and talk to animated characters, including Nessy, who lives in the fountain across from her apartment building.

Together, the two explore life’s curiosities, like why birds fly south and things fall down instead of up. Their adventures lead the viewer to explore their own questions and see the extraordinary in the world around them.

Created by JAM Media’s Chris Dicker, the show is being executive produced by the company’s John Rice and Alan Shannon, while Michelle Sullivan is the executive in charge for Amazon Studios. Emmy Award-winner Peter K. Hirsch joins as head writer.

“We are really excited to be partnered with Amazon Studios on this new property,” says John Rice, CEO of JAM Media. “We want to encourage children to be curious and learn about the world around them, and Jessy and Nessy make the perfect best friends to explore all of life’s wonders with.”

Melissa Wolfe, head of kids’ programming at Amazon Studios, added: “We’re so thrilled to be working with the talented team at JAM Media to bring the quirky and vibrant world of Jessy & Nessy to life. With its unique characters, colorful locations and mixed media format, this show invites our preschool audience to tap into their innate curiosity and harness their imaginative spirit of wonder.”
