International Emmy Kids Awards Nominees Revealed

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has unveiled the nominees for the 2020 International Emmy Kids Awards, which is set to take place on October 14 during MIPCOM Online+.

Across three categories, there are 12 nominees spanning ten countries, including Australia, Brazil, Finland, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden and the U.K. “The geographic spread and variety of themes addressed in these nominated programs demonstrate the buoyancy and quality of children’s television throughout the world,” said Bruce L. Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “We congratulate the nominees for their outstanding talent and for setting the standard of excellence we expect for young viewers worldwide.”

Nominated in the Animation category are Ico Bit Zip (National Geographic/Copa Studio, Brazil); season three of Oddbods (One Animation, Singapore); Moominvalley (Gutsy Animations, Finland); and The Tiger Who Came to Tea (Lupus Films, U.K.).

In the Kids’ Factual & Entertainment category are Opa Popa Dupa (Nat Geo Kids/Estudios Telemexico, Mexico); Världens Hemskaste Sjukdomar (World’s Worst Diseases, Delta Studios, Sweden); Finding My Family: Holocaust—A Newsround Special (BBC Children’s In-House Productions/CBBC, U.K.); and My Notebooks—Seven Years of Tiny Great Adventures (NHK, Japan).

The second season of Juacas (The Walt Disney Company Latin America/Cinefilm Brazil, Brazil); Hardball (Northern Pictures, Australia); Dropje (Doopie, NTR Television/Submarine, Netherlands); and Extraordinary You (MBC, South Korea) are nominated in the Kids’ Live-Action category.

International Emmy Kids Awards presenting partners are Ernst & Young, MIPJunior and TV Kids. Winners will receive their awards during the online ceremony on Wednesday, October 14.  This marks the second time this year that the Academy has presented the Kids Emmys. The accelerated schedule is due to COVID-19-related factors.
