International Emmy Kids Awards Nominees Announced

The nominations for the International Emmy Kids Awards have been announced by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at a press conference at MIPCOM, with nominees across 16 countries.

In the preschool category, the contenders are La Cabane à Histoires (The Treehouse Stories) from Dandelooo/Caribara Production of France, Design Ah! from NHK in Japan, O Diário de Mika (Mika’s Diary) from Brazil’s Supertoons and Puffin Rock, which comes from Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon/Dog Ears/Penguin/Netflix.

The animation nominees are Oddbods from Singapore’s One Animation, Revolting Rhymes from the U.K.’s Magic Light Pictures, Siesta Z from El Perro en la Luna/Señal Colombia/Educa/PakaPaka of Argentina and Trudes Tier (Trude’s Flatmate) from Germany’s Studio Soi/WDR.

The kids’ digital arena features Hele Norge Bygger—Minutt for Minutt (The Great Norwegian Build Off) from NRK in Norway; Jenter (Young Girls), also from NRK; Malhação—Seu Lugar no Mundo (Young Hearts—I Just Want to Love) from Brazil’s TV Globo; and Why?! Programming from NHK in Japan.

The nominees in the factual category are Asquerosamente Rico (Disgustingly Tasty) from Echando Globos/Señal Colombia/ANTV of Colombia, Berlin und Wir (Berlin and Us) from Germany’s Imago TV/ZDF, Miracle Lesson from Japan’s NHK/TV MAN UNION and Operation Ouch! from Maverick TV/CBBC out of the U.K.

In the category for non-scripted entertainment are Disney Cookabout from Penguin Films/The Walt Disney Company representing South Africa, Snapshots from FORTE Entertainment in Canada, Vår Restaurang (Our Restaurant) from SVT in Sweden and The Voice Kids from TV Globo in Brazil.

The TV movie/miniseries nominees are Alleen op de Wereld (Nobody’s Boy) from VPRO Television in the Netherlands, Hank Zipzer’s Christmas Catastrophe from the U.K.’s Kindle Entertainment/DHX Media/Walker Productions/Screen Yorkshire’s Yorkshire Content Fund, Little Lunch from Australian Children’s Television Foundation/ABC Me/Gristmill out of Australia and Wansapanataym—Candy’s Crush (Once Upon a Time) from ABS-CBN in the Philippines.

The programs nominated for best kids’ series are Club der Roten Baender (Red Bracelets) from Bantry Bay Productions/VOX Television in Germany, Jamie Johnson from Short Form Film Company/CBBC in the U.K., O Zoo da Zu from Discovery Kids Latin America/Boutique Films in Brazil and Shahrukh & Warsan from Singapore’s The Big Shots.

The International Emmy Kids Awards will be presented at MIPTV in Cannes on April 10, 2018. Presenting partners are Ernst & Young, MIPTV, Shaw Rocket Fund, TV Kids and WDR.
