HBO Max Sets Mo Willems Live-Action Special

HBO Max has set the premiere date for Mo Willems’ first live-action special, Mo Willems and The Storytime All-Stars Present: Don’t Let The Pigeon Do Storytime!

The New York Times best-selling children’s book author and illustrator is the inaugural education artist-in-residence at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and HBO Max’s first artist-in-residence. HBO Max has an exclusive multiyear deal with Willems, whose first Storytime special includes live readings and sketch comedy by Anthony Anderson, Yvette Nicole Brown, Rachel Dratch, Cameron Esposito and Tony Hale, among others. Shot at the Kennedy Center, the show is slated to bow on September 17.

Mo Willems and The Storytime All-Stars Present: Don’t Let The Pigeon Do Storytime! was directed by Bobcat Goldthwait (Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and produced by Stampede Ventures, with Willems and Stampede’s Greg Silverman, Gideon Yu, Jay Judah and Chris Bosco serving as executive producers.
