Hidden Pigeon Company Signs Licensing Deal for New Book Formats

Hidden Pigeon Company (HPC) and Phoenix International Publications (PIP) are partnering for five novelty book formats that will begin rolling out in the fall of 2026.

“We have long admired Mo Willems and the curious, fun-loving characters he has created,” said John Russell, chief licensing officer at PIP. “These beloved characters have often been an entry point for readers to associate reading with play, which we hope to continue and expand on with our interactive books.”

The new books will include the first sound-button books featuring author and illustrator Mo Willems’ iconic characters, The Pigeon and Elephant & Piggie.

The first title from PIP will be a Christmas-themed Little Music Note Songbook featuring The Pigeon. The other four titles, to be published throughout 2027, include a Steering Wheel Sound Book, I’m Ready to Read Sound Book, Squish & Peek Novelty Board Book and Little Sound Book.

“We’re excited to be working with PIP to bring new book formats to young readers and their families and nurture a love of reading through the hilarious adventures of Mo’s celebrated characters,” said Tori Cook, senior VP of franchise management and consumer products at HPC. “The upcoming titles from PI Kids are sure to engage kids and ‘former kids’ alike in fresh new ways and help them make lasting memories together.”

“We’re so excited to offer kids new ways to interact with The Pigeon and friends by adding sounds and hands-on elements to the stories,” said Susie Brooke, chief publishing officer at Phoenix International Publications, Inc.

The partnership between PIP and HPC was brokered by Paula Allen, founder of Screenland Literary Associates, publishing consultant to HPC.
