Hasbro Outlines Plans for New Content

By 2022-23, Hasbro expects to have two to three motion pictures and three to four TV shows on major platforms for its brands.

More than 200 projects are underway across TV and film, with 30-plus Hasbro brands in development across TV, both scripted and unscripted, and feature films. For the My Little Pony brand, there’s a new CGI film debuting on Netflix later this year with an all-new cast of ponies. The movie will be followed by an all-new My Little Pony G5 CGI series.

Also for Netflix, Transformers: BotBots is a 20-episode animated comedy following the mischievous little Transformers robots, otherwise known as BotBots based on Hasbro’s popular toy line of the same name. Additionally, Hasbro has partnered with Nickelodeon to co-produce an original animated Transformers series (26 half-hour episodes) to premiere exclusively on Nickelodeon in the U.S. before rolling out internationally.

New Peppa Pig and PJ Masks content will be delivered through 2023. In further news for the Peppa Pig brand, the world’s first Peppa Pig theme park is set to open in 2022 at LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

Also, a new animated preschool series, Kiya, has been greenlit for linear and digital broadcast platforms, including Disney Jr. and Disney+ globally and France Télévisions.

In all, Hasbro forecasted 2021 cash content investment of $675 million to $750 million—approximately 70% of which is pre-sold and licensed reducing risk.
