Frédéric Puech, who founded Planet Nemo Animation 15 years ago, is stepping down from the company to launch a new venture: the distribution company Play Big alongside service producer Something Big.

As founder and president of Planet Nemo, Puech helped create and co-produce 15 series and more than 600 episodes of animation such as Bali, Mila Twisted Tales, Rita & Whatsit, What’s the Big Idea and Groove High. The newly formed Play Big will focus on distribution across linear and nonlinear platforms and will also develop its own original projects. It has already secured deals to develop several animated TV series.

The newly formed Something Big will offer tailored creative and production services to third parties. Script to screen services include script writing, design, storyboarding, editing and compositing. China’s Benlai Pictures (Superbuilders) and Japan’s Tezuka Productions (Astro Boy) have both come on board as clients.
