Entertainment One’s (eOne) preschool show Peppa Pig is slated to make its TV debut in Japan next month, where local master licensee SEGA TOYS is also preparing to launch a consumer-products program.

Peppa Pig will premiere on TV Tokyo on October 10. The consumer-products program, anchored by SEGA TOYS, will launch next year, with publishing leading the way. In early spring 2018, Froebel-kan will publish two titles.

From March 2018, toys and games lines will launch at selected retailers before expanding to mass distribution by the end of the year. These include Hanayama, distributing Character Options’ global master toy line; Bandai for wooden toys and puzzles; SEGA TOYS for standard plush; and Meteor APAC, the sole distributor for Ty in Japan, which will distribute Ty’s plush Beanie Babies range. Nippon Columbia will distribute DVDs starting in 2018 as well.

Peppa Pig is enjoying tremendous ratings and retail success across Asia, so we’re incredibly excited to be bringing the brand to Japan,” said Andrew Carley, the head of global licensing at eOne Family. “Asia is a key focus for our global licensing strategy so we’re keen to explore opportunities in this exciting new market and with top-tier broadcast and licensing partners already on board, we have a strong foundation for future growth.”
