Executive producer Joan Lambur (Lucy Maude Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables movie series) has launched Lambur Productions, with Sinking Ship Entertainment taking a minority interest.

As president of the new production company, Lambur will create children’s and family programming for the global market. Suzanne Wilson is joining Lambur Productions as COO and will be charged with developing strategy and handling the company’s business affairs and financing activities. She will report to Lambur.

Lambur will work with broadcasters, agents, writers and other creative talent to create internationally successful product for kids and families. The content will be suited for TV, SVOD and licensing. Lambur Productions will be based at the Sinking Ship headquarters in Toronto.

Lambur was the executive VP of family entertainment for Breakthrough Entertainment and was executive producer for all animation and kids’ live-action and family programming. She handled acquisitions of projects in these areas while overseeing the creative development and financing. She also managed all licensing and merchandising activities for the company tied to its TV programming. Wilson most recently served as the VP of family entertainment at Breakthrough.

“Canada desperately needs new production companies,” said J.J. Johnson, partner at Sinking Ship. “And there’s no one better suited to helm its latest than Joan Lambur. Joan is a producing powerhouse whom we have admired (and competed against) since Sinking Ship’s inception. We are honored to be a supportive partner in her new venture.”

“I’ve been closely following the dramatic growth of Sinking Ship for several years,” commented Lambur. “They continue to impress with their overall creative vision, their ability to resonate with kids and the solid team built by J.J. Johnson, Blair Powers and Matt Bishop.”
