BURBANK: Disney Channel has kicked off a nationwide casting search for High School Musical 4, a fourth installment of the hit movie franchise that first premiered on the network more than a decade ago.

High School Musical 4 will introduce the new East High Wildcats and their cross-town school rivals, the West High Knights. The Disney Channel original will be directed and choreographed by Jeffrey Hornaday (Teen Beach Movie). Dan Berendsen (Baby Daddy) and Peter Barsocchini (High School Musical) are the screenwriters, with Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush returning as executive producers. The film’s casting directors are Jason La Padura, Natalie Hart and Kendra Patterson.

Gary Marsh, the president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, commented: “High School Musical is part of Disney Channel’s DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’—as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise.”
