DHX Media Rebrands, Reports Revenue Gains

DHX Media has reported its fourth-quarter and year-end fiscal 2019 results, in addition to revealing that it will change its name to WildBrain.

Eric Ellenbogen, the company’s newly appointed CEO and vice chair, said: “In fiscal 2019, we advanced our priorities of creating premium content, growing our AVOD business, improving our cash flow and strengthening our balance sheet. In Q4 2019, revenue rose 12 percent to $108.8 million and adjusted EBITDA was up 26 percent to $20.2 million.

For many years, our WildBrain group has been at the leading edge of the digital media business. Q4 2019 revenue rose 12 percent to $108.8 million, while full-year revenue grew to $439.8 million compared to $434.4 million in fiscal year 2018. WildBrain revenue rose 25 percent to $17.9 million in Q4 and was up 20 percent year-over-year to $69 million. Distribution revenue (excluding WildBrain) grew 46 percent to $16.6 million for Q4 and was down 10 percent year-over-year to $59.8 million. Consumer products-owned revenue was up 22 percent to $38.6 million for the fourth quarter and rose 11 percent year-over-year to $160.3 million, driven by Peanuts.
