NEW YORK: FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment has secured several free-to-air deals for the updated version of its animated series Danger Mouse in Europe, the Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Among the broadcasters that signed on for free-to-air deals are ABC in Australia, Channel 4 in New Zealand, the Lagardère channels in France, RTÉ in Ireland and MBC in the Middle East. These sales are in addition to a multi-territory Netflix deal that will launch in the Americas and other territories this spring.

The updated Danger Mouse series launched in the U.K. on CBBC in September after a 23-year hiatus. The comedy action series was number one in its time slot for boys 4 to 9 across all channels.

Joss Duffield, the VP of global distribution at FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment, said: “Danger Mouse’s mission was to thrill a whole new generation of viewers and we’re delighted that he’s not only doing that in the U.K. but is also set to make a much-anticipated comeback on the global stage too. These deals with prestigious, free-to-air partners show that the high-action, high-comedy adventures of this quintessentially British character and his allies and adversaries are really striking a chord with audiences across the world.”

Commissioned by the controller of CBBC, Cheryl Taylor, the co-production with FremantleMedia Kids & Family is animated by Boulder Media. Sarah Muller serves as executive producer for CBBC and Bob Higgins and Chapman Maddox are executive producing for FremantleMedia Kids & Family, which owns the global TV and licensing rights for the series. Jazwares is the master toy partner.
