QUEBEC CITY: Disney EMEA has acquired the 3D-animated comedy series Cracké for Disney Channels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Beginning next month, 52 one-minute episodes of Cracké from Canadian animation studio Squeeze will air across Disney Channels in close to 100 countries and territories across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The slapstick comedy series follows Ed the ostrich, who always makes things worse for himself when he tries to protect his eight eggs from various threats.

In addition to the TV series, Cracké is becoming available this year as a mobile video game and a mobile animated comic book. A second season of the show is already in development.

Denis Doré, the president and co-founder of Squeeze, said, “We’re very excited to see that our paranoid ostrich, created in Quebec City, will make more and more families laugh across the planet! From the very beginnings, we wanted to produce a TV series of very high quality with universal appeal. The relationship with Disney means a lot to us, confirming that our talent here has real potential to travel the world.”

Cracké was produced in Canada in collaboration with TELETOON, the Canada Media Fund, the Quebec Refundable Tax Credit for Film and Television Production (managed by SODEC), the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC) – CAVCO, the Bell Fund and the National Bank.
